Auckland Art & Craft Fair

so i donned my mustard tights for their big debut in NZs largest city at the Auckland Art and Craft fair yesterday.

all was going swimmingly as i feigned coolness amongst the NZ craft celebs. schmoozing (kinda)...
...until i got to Melissa Wastney's (from Tiny Happy) table.

starstruck.

i tried to regroup my Cool by looking a-little-too-intently at her fabrics. before my Cool had returned, she leaned over at said, are you Dee?
right then, my Cool left the country and i went beet red people, BEET red.
i hear my mum say, how do you know Dee?
(and i'm mumbling, she doesn't mum! she doesn't know me!)
Melissa mentions she recognises me from my blog.
me (weakly), i don't recognise you....

anyway, Melissa really is the sweetest person imaginable and i hope she did really well out the market (and all fingers crossed she didn't notice my face resembled a fire engine for the entire time i talked to her!)
and pretty excited to have some of her talent in my home now
...
i also got this most beautiful vase by  porcelain rove (Jamie Young)
...

Jada bought a Devon Smith brooch
...

i've always wanted a ring like this. (by run cutie)
...

and a little bit of frivolity from throwing feathers
...

it was such an inspiring and refreshing little outing.
and the mustard tights?
totally upstaged by my daughter's dress!

hahaha

i went last year when it was at the gallery, it was great and i picked up a few things but just wished i had an unlimited budget to hand out to every crafter :-(.

Were there loads of crowds? it was so packed last time it was hard to see much :-P

loving the mustard and your celebrity-ness-ness!

  3. Aww Melissa is the loveliest! and so down to earth. Proud to say I knew her before she was a famous crafter! haha.
I'm very, very envious of your wee trip. When is the next fair, I wonder... I might need to make the trip! (though my bank account would disagree..)
