Royal Rolston Ball

A few weeks ago Jada announced there was going to be a Ball at our place on December 1st and we were all invited. (groan). the groan is because if you know anything about this little family of ours, we are heading into a very intensive birthday season. all 6 of us within 2 months. plus Christmas. plus wedding anniversary.
the last thing i need is to put on a fancy Ball for absolutely no reason at all!
but then i saw this post by Sara at 'Walk Slowly, Live Wildly', the other day about 6 year old daughters not staying 6 forever. sigh. yes. ...and so, despite it being Chaos (sale) day, i rallied and we had a fantastic Ball - complete with banquet table and classical music.

i pulled out a dress i haven't worn in 10 years and Jada kept whispering to me "you really do look like a princess Mummy"...i knew she would love it :)

it was SO SO incredibly humid and hot and i'm sure this princess had a sweaty upper lip the entire time

there was one particular guest who didn't care a fig if it was a Ball or not. he was hot and wasn't putting fancy clothes on for anything!

last night there was one happy 6 year old daughter
(and one guilt-free mother... for one night at least!)

i didn't do this for the accolades. seriously!!
unfortunately i am all-too-often the mother who automatically says "no". in fact, that's exactly what i intended to do with the whole "Ball" thing too...if it weren't for Sara's post :)
Hopefully I can encourage someone else and pay it forward~~ x

  9. gorgeous!! what a great idea. It is really hard to say 'yes' amid all the craziness but it looks like it was a brilliant ball. I will try to say yes more to my kids because it looks like the rewards were worth it

  10. Isn't it always the way. The times when you feel LEAST like making the effort always end up being the ones where the BEST memories are created. A great reminder for us all about why we should sometimes just say YES in spite of what else is going on!
