pre-baby hindsight

i'd say this to myself:

Don't be surprised at how fierce your love will be.

You cannot begin to imagine how depths of exhaustion...(and how you will be able to keep going despite)

your baby will survive if she misses a nap.

your baby is not manipulating you. if she cries, cuddle her.

if it is your first child, feel free to sit on the couch and hold her for hours while she sleeps. you will not have this freedom with your second child. (i did this, heaps!!)

and most importantly:

it's hard (especially when it's your first) but don't raise your child according to what you think other's may expect.

what would you tell yourself?

  1. wow, that youtube clip made me cry a little! I would tell myself "think yourself lucky, not all babies are as easy as this one is going to be so take the time and enjoy him". also "SLEEP WOMAN!".

  2. That was great. I would say, "trust yourself - you are the expert on your own baby" and also, "relax, its not about being perfect".
