chuck out or chop up?

every so often there is a small notice in the kindy newsletter that very politely encourages parents to refrain from audibly groaning when their children come home with a pile of "art".
(look familiar?)
if you are a 'groaner', i'm about to make your day!
everyone knows Eric Carle, right? (of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' fame)
he makes pictures out of collaged paintings...
...and now so can you!!
ta da!
(convinced that all those wild dashes of paint are invaluable yet??)
allow me to further convince you....
.
.
if you haven't heard of Shepard Fairey, i'm sure most of you have seen this:
( i love shepard fairey's work btw)

...and remember that pile of kindy paintings?
a little Carle-Fairey fusion :)

convinced yet??
seriously, i beg Ty to do paintings every time he is at kindy. (he seems to prefer the sand pit though so i might have to start bribing him i think!)

i'm working on this one of my sister at the moment. i'm imagining a circular pattern behind her with her in the centre. will show when i'm done
happy chopping :)

  2. Wonderful!! I love the tractor (actually, Jarvis is jumping up and down yelling 'tractor tractor tractor' with absolute elation, but I do love it too!).

Such a wonderful idea, when I was a teacher we'd make wonderful collages like that after doing experiments with different painting mediums :)

    Wonderful!

  6. Those are just fantastic. I've seen simple cut outs with kids art done before but those are just outstanding. Now can you come up with something to do with the ones with bits of wool, yoghurt pots, pasta and cupcake papers stuck to them please? ;o)

  7. Wow! You are one talented Mama! I'm not at the stage that I am sick of artwork yet, but when I get a collection going I'll certainly remember this idea!

  8. WOW! You are a clever one. Unfortuantely my Master 4 doesn't head for the painting table either - sigh! They are also great for Christmas wrapping paper!

  11. Totally blown away! I often throw away excess paintings - and then the kids find them in the bin and want me to explain why there were there... gulp!

Such a fab idea - you NEED to sell these!!!

  12. These are incredible! Absolutely incredible!
Makes me wish I had a wee artist on my hands- Aesop will avoid the art table at all costs! Perhaps Otto will pull through for me? hah.

I think you really could/should be selling these sort of pictures. You could even do custom ones using the customers kids own paintings?
